Vanilla Smoothie

vanilla smoothie

Over the weekend, my youngest son asked if he could have a plain vanilla smoothie!  I’m always making smoothies for kids, but I have to be honest and say that I had never made a vanilla smoothie recipe of either of my boys.  Now, if I were making a vanilla smoothie for myself I would probably just make a protein shake and be done with it.  After all, how complicated does it need to be?  But, when making smoothie recipes for my little ones, I tend to try to stay away from protein powder.  Not so much because I don’t think it is good for them, but because in my experience they tend to take a few sips and then ignore the rest.  Maybe it is the aftertaste that some protein powders have?

Anyhow, my goal was to make him a vanilla smoothie that tasted like a milk shake minus all of the fat!  I tasted it myself and I could see why he drank it all and asked for more!  Though simple, it is quite delicious!

Vanilla Smoothie

  • 1/2 cup Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
  • 1/2 – 1 cup ice cubes (more or less to taste)

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender or smoothie maker and process until smooth.
