There are few smoothie recipes that are simpler and more delicious than a strawberry smoothie recipe. I especially love making strawberry smoothies in the spring time, when I can find fresh strawberries and my local farmers market. I like to plan ahead for the months were strawberries are not in season by buying a flat of strawberries and freezing them in one cup bags so that I have just the right amount for a smoothie.
If you’ve never frozen fresh fruit before – here’s the trick. Place the strawberries (or blueberries, etc.) on a cookie sheet. But it in the freezer until the berries are hard. Then place into freezer bags or containers. This prevents them from sticking together.
For the strawberry smoothie recipe I am sharing with you today, no freezing is required.
This makes it the perfect smoothie recipe for shopping day! This is a great smoothie recipe for kids too! I use two cups of ice instead of one when I make it for my boys and it delivers a smoothie so thick that they call it a milk shake. Only I know that there are healthy flax seeds in this strawberry yogurt smoothie! Without a doubt this is one of the best ways to get children (or adults!) Omega 3 essential fatty acids.
There are a lot of ways that you could change this strawberry smoothie recipe, so feel free to get creative. That is one of the best things about smoothie recipes – you almost can’t go wrong! I always try to save fruit that my boys don’t eat so that I have an interesting medley to throw into smoothie recipes.
