The Amazing Ninja Blender

I have to admit something. I never planned on having a Ninja blender. As far as smoothie makers go, it wasn’t even on my radar. I was saving my money for a Vitamix or Blendtec but wasn’t quite there yet.
Then I broke my blender jar and had planned on getting a handheld blender to tide me over until I had saved a little more money.
Then I did something crazy.
I took my 5 and 6 year old boys blender shopping with me. It never occurred to me that they would care one way or the other which blender I purchased. In fact, I was prepared to get in and out of the store as quickly as possible to avoid the dreaded “Mom, are you done yet…I’m bored.”
Apparently, I underestimated marketing. It was the name.
Ninja
Yeah, of course that is the only blender for a 5 or 6 year old boy! They literally picked up the huge box and put it in the cart. I tried to tell them that mommy was just going to get a little blender today. They weren’t giving up. My husband looked at me and said “It is a cool looking blender.”
Some help.
I tried talking them into the smaller Ninja Master Prep, but apparently when you are going for the cool-factor with a blender, only the biggest will do.
So, outnumbered by the testosterone crew, I caved and decided that it was just easier to give in. (Ok, I thought it looked pretty cool too.)
I’m usually more methodical with my kitchen appliance purchases. I do research. I study.
Yet I found myself the proud owner of a Ninja Kitchen System without having ever read Ninja blender reviews.
Ok, it wasn’t my smartest moment, and yes, I caved. But it all worked out.
I love my Ninja Blender!
Although it is certainly not as powerful as the high end professional blenders, the Ninja allowed me to enjoy green smoothies like never before. Suddenly, making my own nut cheese and almond milk was a possibility. It even tackles more difficult tasks that would traditionally be handled by a food processor like making hummus.
I can personally attest to the fact that this blender can handle some abuse. We make smoothie recipes most every day. I also make my own mayonnaise and am a big fan of dips. Oh, and did I mention that I hate to clean and have a bad habit of putting kitchen appliances in the dish washer even though they aren’t supposed to go there?
This baby has put up with it all (Including almost daily trips to the dishwasher) for a year and is still going strong.
A lot of people ask if the Ninja is tough enough to handle green smoothie recipes. I can tell you that, yes, it is! In fact, every green smoothie on this site has been made with my Ninja. It can even handle Kale, though it is not 100% smooth. (Spinach comes out perfectly though.) So, if you are wondering can a ninja blender handle green smoothie recipes, I’d say it does a decent job and is far better than any other blender I’ve owned – including my Viking.
My only complaint about the whole thing was that I discovered much better prices at Amazon.com when I started looking at Ninja Blender Reviews. (Don’t ask me why I was looking at blender reviews after I already have it – I’m weird that way.)
Key Features of the Ninja Blender
- 1100 watt motor
- Quad blade for ice crushing (This baby works! ) These blades are super sharp so if you have little ones, be very careful when they are around.
- Removable parts are dishwasher safe (I even do the blade. It’s probably best if you don’t but it hasn’t seemed to hurt it.)
- Looks pretty cool on the counter.
The Ninja Blender System Includes
- 1 large pitcher with Locking Lid
- 1 small pitcher with Locking Lid
- Large and Small Blades
- Large and Small Dough Hook Paddles
- 1 Dough Hook
All in all, despite how it came to be, I am very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend the Ninja Blender!
