Although my husband enjoys smoothie recipes from time to time, the truth is that he is much more interested in making protein shakes than he is in green smoothie recipes! This protein shake recipe is one of his favorites! It is the perfect post workout recovery drink and can also be enjoyed prior to a work out. It is also filling enough for a meal on the run!
One thing to mention is that though we use Almond butter here, any natural nut butter would work as well. Processed peanut butter has way too much sugar and is loaded with preservatives, but all natural peanut butter is a great alternative. If you have a Whole Foods near by, you can probably even make your own nut butter from fresh ground nuts! Fresh nut butters are delicious!

Another thing to remember is that if you are watching your calories you can always skip the almond milk and use water instead. This chocolate almond butter protein shake is amazing either way!
